Eco surf label Gemma Lee launched a limited edition range of full length wetsuits for pre-order today which is perfectly timed for those who love getting in the water in winter. Wellington-based designer Gemma Cornish has been creating wetsuits and swimwear since 2018 and her new range is just as colourful as her previous collections. Each garment is made in Australia from environmentally friendly and sustainable materials making them a great choice for the wearer and the environment.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to cater for more ocean-lovers this time round, by expanding our size range to womens’ size 4 to 16 and also having the space to custom fit for sizes we don’t have sitting on the shelf,” says Gemma Cornish. “We understand the need for different thicknesses around NZ, so each suit will be available in 3/2mm and 4/3mm.”

Gemma’s colourful designs are a celebration of femininity and coastal/beach inspiration, targeted at the large female surfing community across both New Zealand and Australia. She noticed a gap in the market for ethically produced wetsuits that were vibrant and joyful with her new range full of playful prints and colour-blocking.

“I design collections using colours and combinations that give us feelings of the invincible summer, so that one look at our suits evokes feelings of joy, happiness, playfulness, and an abundance of energy,” adds Gemma. “As a designer, my world is a colourful one! I design mostly from colour psychology, and play with shades of colours and colour combinations until they evoke a certain emotion inside of me, and then I know that’s the one!”
