5 New Innovations from MAC

We love these 5 new innovative products from MAC. Image writer’s own.

MAC is one of those beauty brands that are notorious for bringing out game-changing new products that competitors will subsequently imitate but never quite capture the true essence of. Recently they’ve released five new products to the market. Some are revivals of their tried and true classics but others are completely new to us.

MAC Strobe Cream $70
Strobe Cream is by no means a new product, in fact it is one of MAC’s bestsellers. They’ve recently added four new shades to the line up. Strobe Cream is one of those products you can apply before foundation to give your skin a beautifully dewy finish or you can mix it in with your base for a touch of extra iridescence. Combination skin types should note that less is definitely more with this product but it’s a cult favourite for a reason.

Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Beaming Blush $64
Every Christmas usually sees the return of MAC’s Extra Dimension range of eye shadows and skin finishes, the latter often sell out promptly each year. They’ve had a bit of a revamp and we don’t know if they’ve tweaked the formula slightly but these are stunning. Highlighters have come a long way from the days of chunky glitter particles, sitting on the surface. Now we have the lit from within glow courtesy of products like this, rather than countless steps using the strobing technique.

Spellbinder Shadows $48
These are a truly innovative new eye shadow. That wave pattern you see is not an illusion, but a result of the ionised, magnetically charged loose powder. Do not fret; they won’t be attaching themselves to your fridge anytime soon. The colours are on the darker side of things but are all extremely beautiful with a velvet-like finish. They blend seamlessly which we also love. We recommend checking out the shade Gravity’s Pull but Higher Power is tempting us as well.

Liptensity Lipsticks $50
This new range was created in collaboration with Maureen Seaberg, a tetrachromat. What that means is she can see around 100 times more colours than the average person. MAC has created lipsticks for this range that are as true to colour and are quite unique colours. You might be sceptical but I swatched some of these lipsticks alongside ones in my collection already and none of them were totally identical. We love the shades Eros, a vibrant hot pink and Doe, a creamy neutral brown.

Brow Sculpt Pencil $40
Brows are still having their moment in the beauty world and that doesn’t look set to change any time soon. This angled brow pencil makes filling in your brows a breeze. Simply use short, feathery strokes to apply colour to any sparse areas on your brows and then brush them through with the spoolie on the other end before setting with a brow gel. We love the range of colours available – there truly is a shade for everyone.
