Federation‘s new collection for Summer 2017 has arrived in stores and it’s an easy to wear range called “A Walk in the Park”. The collection ’embraces the simplicity of warmer weather dressing’ with women’s and men’s pieces that have Federation’s effortless charm and casual cool. Womenswear designer and founder, Jenny Joblin, has used her artistic sensibilities to play with direction and movement, pairing strong lines and solid colours with softer highlights.
Joblin has long been a fan of tongue-in-cheek word play and catch-phrases which she incorporates into Federation’s streetwear on tees, tanks and hoodies. This season sees the designer build on her favourite colour palette of black, white and grey adding soft shades of dusky pink, peach and apricot with crystal-clear aqua and accents of gold. It makes for a mesmerising range of hues and works beautifully with a summer tan.
There’s a playfulness about this range which comes from the off-the-shoulder tops and dresses that toy with volume and semi-sheer fabrics. The designer has embraced suitable light fabrics for summer such as super-soft denim, chiffon and cotton. The collection gets a party feel from its gorgeous delustered satin bomber jackets and sheer statement skirts that will be perfect for wherever the night takes you.
“This season I really wanted to pair it back. I love easy and relaxed summer dressing – soft, floaty dresses and skirts you can throw on for lunch or the beach,” adds Joblin. “Our signature shorts and singlets for all those amazing outdoor days, low-slung parcel pants for home or work, and frill tops you can dress up or down.”
Federation’s menswear designer, Ben Dundas, also found inspiration in a soft summery colour palette finding himself drawn to lemon and rose gold in particular. The brand’s ever popular atlas tanks, control singlets, clifford and aye tees that feature Federation’s banner all return for summer. Dundas has also added some new pieces including the turf tank.
“A few of our staple-cut shorts appear this season for the perfect pairing with any one of our tanks and tees. And we’ve added some heavier garments, like the temple jacket in military, to throw over the lighter summery pieces for when the weather is still warming up,” he adds. “A Walk in the Park’ really reflects that carefree feeling we love about summer – it’s an ease and simplicity-of-living, wrapped up in one collection.”
