What a MOOD! Not For You showcased their newest collection of unique, high-end streetwear for NZFW 2019 and left the crowd wanting more.

I loved everything about this show from the inspirational intro, the toe-tapping beats, the models getting groovy on the catwalk to the tight bodysuits and the bright bomber jackets. There were plenty of drool-worthy menswear and with the recent introduction to womenswear, everyone has something to choose.

My favourite styles had to be the western style cowboy silhouettes, and grungey graffiti-covered jackets which were paying homage to the brands love of art and music. The female audience had some delicious turtleneck bodysuit styles to lap up, including the zip-up black painted co-ord set which I was eyeing up. Everything in this collection looked so comfortable and effortless to wear. It was marvellous to see more unique clothing brands coming out of Wellington, New Zealand.

There was plenty of colour used with whites, soft grey, and bright red, orange and yellow making a significant splash on the catwalk. I loved the combination used on some of the models who were wearing a white bomber jacket paired with white hand-painted pants or red jacket and pants. The double pairing worked, and I was living for it.

Accessories were kept to a minimum, but I loved the touch of cowboy chic spotted on a few of the male models. The use of Stetson style hats completed the looks and gave a fresh new approach to streetwear.

The best surprise of the show was the garments featuring Sailor Moon! Because when you’re a brand that’s inspired by art, music, love, heartache and current events, why not? She’s a rad character featured as the main image on shirts as well as a jacket patch. She’s also wearing Not For You in the imagery. Badass.

I can’t wait to see what this NZ brand does next. The show was incredible, and the new collection is stylish and sophisticated while still oozing that streetwear appeal. Well done Jerome Taylor!

Beauty Notes: The hair team for Not For You was lead by Newton Cook from Rodney Wayne and saw the models with two looks. The first was a sleek and sexy ponytail and the second look was a Kardashian inspired centre part slicked-back look.

The makeup team for Not For You was lead by Kristen Stewart from Kristen Stewart School of Makeup. The look was very minimal but slightly edgy with a brown liner and soft brown eye and a dark nude lip. The idea was to let the clothes speak for themselves. Beauty Notes by Nina Franklin.
