New Zealand Fashion Week Designer Announcement 2013

“IT’S OUR STRONGEST DESIGNER LINE UP EVER” – Dame Pieter Stewart DNZM wasn’t mincing her words when she reflected on the list of designers showing at New Zealand Fashion Week 2013 with her team this week. But the impressive range of local and international designers showing at the event supports Stewart’s claim that this year’s line up is the strongest yet.

From some of the biggest names of New Zealand fashion through to some relative unknowns, Stewart is delighted with the list, which includes a “really strong group of New Zealand’s smaller, edgier labels,” confirming that the event remains an important commercial platform for the local industry.

In total, the confirmed list to date has 53 designers showing on the catwalk during NZFW and NZ Fashion Weekend, with the four corners of New Zealand represented alongside some well known international labels.

“I’ve been working in the industry for a few years now, with 2013 being the 13th year of NZFW. We are constantly evolving the event to best meet the needs of the designers and while we know how tough it is for many of them, we’re delighted we can still provide a relevant platform for them to show their collections.

“The addition of Fashion One to the strong list of visiting international media and buyers has certainly been attractive to a lot of the designers and there has been a growing interest from designers to show in-season collections to the public on the NZ Fashion Weekend schedule,” added Stewart.

The NZFW and NZ Fashion Weekend Schedules will both be finalised in the coming week and with just three weeks until the opening night party, the NZFW team is preparing for what is shaping up to be an exciting event.
