After a four year absence from the NZFW schedule, Juliette Hogan made an anticipated return hosting a live presentation at the industrial site next to her workroom in Auckland’s Morningside, the opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle of the city was a welcome escape. The setting featured pots and pots of greenery artfully placed in clustered groups on the floor, creating what would become pathways for an ensemble of models that appeared and took their places.
It was an intimate setting and a wonderful way to view the ten looks from the collection up close, a sleek rotation of models meant each outfit had its share of focus at the forefront. We saw an oatmeal floor length overcoat worn over a silk navy blouse and palazzo trousers. An apricot short coat was layered over a knit turtleneck and tailored beige pencil skirt. Co-ordinated looks played a small theme in which we saw a forest green wool blend coat that was belted at the waist with a coordinating long skirt, while a white on white look of a slit sleeve tunic worn over wide trousers was pure elegance. These separates exuded an effortless ease and will surely please Hogan’s loyal clientele next Winter.
Dresses were chic and uncomplicated; there was a floor length black pussybow gown, a black silk slip layered over a sweet white blouse and a long pleated gown in a pretty feathered print-no doubt an exclusive print developed in house as has become a Juliette Hogan signature.
No gimmicks or fuss, what Hogan does best is make beautiful clothing for women to simply live their lives in an elegant way.
Soundtrack: Pianist Gabrielle Peake played a beautiful live set adding to the sereneness of the presentation.
Beauty notes: Models wore their hair down loose and natural or up in ponytails with a touch of volume. Makeup wise, faces were fresh and dewy with rosy cheeks and a pretty coral eyeshadow, with all products by MAC.
Hot Item: The forest green silk long sleeve gown with a tie waist belt was simply divine, and we loved how it was worn by curvy model Isabella Moore.
