Fashion in the Park

Last Saturday, Sylvia Park hosted its annual Fashion Show, now its seventh year. The 2014 event was titled ‘Fashion in the Park,’ due to this year’s venue being one of the centre’s underground carparks.

Drawing a large number of spectators, it was nice to see those watching were a mix of men and women and of varying ages too.

The carpark was transformed and a little fire dancing at the beginning really got our attention. The talented dancers-come-models were certainly at home on the catwalk.

I’m sure that those who attended would agree that the team at Sylvia Park made this event well worth the watch.  It can’t be easy entertaining a large group of onlookers and showcasing garments from 90 retailers at the same time.

However, thanks to performances choreographed by leading performance company, The Human Agency, both feats were achieved.

The garments were presented in a series of different sections with each category beautifully styled by Rachel Morton. Bubbly TV presenter Sonia Gray was the MC for the evening and not only entertained the crowds but handed out a few prizes along the way.

A standout section was the evening wear as well as a quirky and fun Geek Chic- inspired selection of garments which was a nice way to finish off. I’m pretty certain that with 110 outfits and 60 pairs of shoes on show there will be more than enough new season fashion to go around at Sylvia Park!
