Deryn Schmidt NZFW 2012 Review

Known for her exquisite tailoring and excellent finishing skills, the Deryn Schmidt label appeals to women of all ages and her Autumn/Winter 2013 collection titled ‘The Wall’ caters for many tastes across a large age bracket.

I can’t stress enough how impressive the tailoring in this collection is. Walnuts, oatmeals, dark indigo inks, toffees and geometric silk prints feature to lend a modern interpretation to classic shapes.

Deryn emphasises she is not by driven by trends, but ensures she creates timeless investment pieces which can be incorporated to freshen your existing wardrobe.

A selection of silks, merino, velvet and cotton gave texture, life and movement to embellished metal jackets, mid-calf length pants and a selection of figure flattering tunics and dresses accented by the use of sequins and lace panel inserts. My most coveted piece in the collection is ‘The Wall Dress’ an ink velvet, mid-length dress, with lattice gathered detailing along the empire line – strong, feminine and extremely flattering.
