Channelling the modern mod, COOP by Trelise Cooper’s third fashion week outing was a riot of lacquered plastic brights, crazy prints and shimmery metallics anchored by solid silhouettes, and shades of charcoal and black. Embracing idiosyncrasies and celebrating individualism, this was a collection that was all about getting noticed.
Fashion should be fun, and there is nothing more enjoyable than a designer with a sense of humour whose creations nod to the avant-garde but are still wearable enough to brighten up any outfit and put a smile on your face. From the swinging sixties skirts and cute tops in rainbow brights to the butterfly motif that featured on printed sheers and accented jumpers this range is definitely young and fun, the faux fur tops and shorts (yes fur shorts!) made that very clear too.
It wouldn’t be a Trelise Cooper show without fabulous party dresses and the sequinned delights on offer definitely won’t disappoint the COOP girl, with a gorgeous multi-coloured shimmy dress the highlight of the bunch. Leather motorcycle jackets added an edge to the frivolity whilst sexy little print dresses gave great options for day to evening looks. Texture was everywhere, with lurex, lace and rubberised fabric making for fantastic eye-candy which made you want to reach out and touch the garments as they sashayed by.
The collection was off-set by solid gold necklaces around the models throats, capturing their hair underneath, which was a strong look and added an almost futuristic touch to the range. It’s easy to see that COOP’s followers will find this collection highly enjoyable to mix and match and it was interesting to see the change in direction from last Winter’s moodier look. Although it did feel like this collection could be edited down a little, however lots of options is never a bad thing. One thing is for sure though, Winter 2014 is definitely looking very bright for COOP by Trelise Cooper.
