In a step towards a more sustainable future Deuce introduced the brand’s new Kind Soles footwear collection which features three unisex Deuce sneakers. It’s the beginning of what the brand describes as a considered edit of sustainable styles with more designs to be added each season.
“It’s cool to be kind, not only to people, but also our planet. We’re part of a connected ecosystem and it’s our responsibility to make better choices to benefit our customers, employees and the planet. People and community have always been the heart of what we do, and with 70 years of business under our belt, it’s time to widen the scope of our commitment. We recognise our environmental responsibility to protect the planet for future generations and are making steps towards a more sustainable future. We also recognise this is a journey and we still have a lot to learn. Every bit makes a difference, and it will be a series of small steps to reach our long-term goals,” says the Deuce Sneakers team.
The Kind Soles collection is thoughtfully designed in New Zealand featuring some new elements including the BLOOM footbed, which is made from algae biomass, a sustainable, plant-based material that helps clean polluted water. Every pair of footbeds returns 18 litres of clean water to the habitat and cleans 11 cubic metres of air.
The Jax and Jango styles feature an innovative leather-look material called Bio Veg, made from Bio Polyols, primarily derived from field corn. It is a PETA approved material that was sourced from Coronet, an Italian suppler. While the third style called Gaia, is made with Repreve, a traceable fibre made from recycled oceanic plastic bottles. The material goes through an extensive process embedding wicking properties, water repellency and durability, maintaining a premium quality fibre.
Each of these elements is another step forward in the brand’s sustainability goals and also offer 100% recycled shoelaces and shoe boxes from 100% post-consumer recyclable cardboard. Deuce take their commitment to sustainability seriously while offering timeless, thoughtful sneakers that not only put their customers front of mind, but also our planet.
