Deadly Ponies released their second Recycle capsule today which repurposes 81 square feet of leather as part of the brand’s mission to be the world’s most responsible handbag brand. Their first Recycle collection launched in August 2020 and was a sell-out success, offering handcrafted pieces from the recycled handbags and silk scarves the brand collected in an effort to close the loop.

The Recycle capsule reflects Deadly Ponies’ ethos and firm belief in circularity. It utilises pre-loved and off-cut leathers reimagining them into smaller accessories was a dose of playfulness the brand is known for. The collection features quirky pieces like the Mirror and Key Cloche, alongside AirPod cases and sunglasses holders. Each piece is unlike the next making for true Deadly Ponies’ collector’s keepsakes.

In the beginning of Deadly Ponies, Creative Director Liam Bowden, created his first designs with leather scraps from tannery off-cuts. While the brand has come a long way since then, the ethos is still ingrained in Deadly Ponies’ practices today. Their mission is to continue to be more circular and become zero waste and this Recycle collection is a key part of the brand’s efforts.

Deadly Ponies want their customers to nourish, repair and cherish their Deadly Ponies pieces, and instead of sending them to landfill they can be returned to the brand to be repurposed so they can have another life. Customers who recycle their Deadly Ponies pieces in usable condition with the brand will receive a $50 voucher to use towards their next purchase.

The brand have also partnered with Sustainable Coastlines this year and will be donating 10% from every purchase of the Deadly Ponies Recycle collection to help support cleaner coastlines and protect our natural biodiversity.
