Danny Pato from D&M Hair Design has won New Zealand Hairdresser of the year for the third consecutive year at the Hair Expo Awards in Melbourne. The talented hairdresser has previously won the title in 2016 and 2017 with his creativity and expertise. “[It feels] amazing.” says Danny. “This collection is about a global woman… and about being proud.”
The prestigious awards is the pinnacle celebration of Hair Expo Australia’s three-day event which has been celebrating excellence in hair for over 30 years. Over 850 hair professionals gathered for the gala event which saw 20 winners chosen from an impressive 111 finalists across 18 creative and business categories. They were judged by 10 international and 10 local judges which included some of the most acclaimed hairdressing industry veterans.
Victorian hairdresser Joey Scandizzo was named the 2018 Australian Hairdresser of the Year which is the second time that he was won the title after winning the top prize in 2012.
Hair Expo Australia is an annual event over Australia’s Queen’s Birthday weekend that celebrates the innovation, creativity and talent of hair industry professionals over three days. It is Australasia’s largest and leading hair event with its amazing hair show performances meaning it’s now known as ‘The Festival of Hair’.
