When I started Embodyme, it wasn’t just about launching a business—it was about creating something deeply personal, authentic, and purposeful that could really make an impact in people’s lives.
In a world where women feel increasingly disconnected, overstretched, and emotionally drained, my goal is to help women prioritise their wellbeing, reconnect with themselves, and find harmony in their daily lives through meaningful daily rituals for self-care. This vision drives everything I do with Embodyme.
Embodyme is more than just skincare; it’s a self-care movement born from my own life experiences and struggles that has also led me to commission a survey on women’s wellbeing in New Zealand. The insights from the survey were revealing in that it really shows that women continue to put the needs of others before their own. This reinforced my mission for Embodyme to offer women daily moments to pause, connect, and nurture both body and mind. When women embody their best, they feel stronger, deepen their self-connection, and spread a ripple effect that touches everyone around them.
A Personal Journey of Healing and Transformation
The creation of Embodyme stems from my personal challenges and the various roles I’ve juggled—mother, business owner, wife—facing significant struggles along the way. I’ve endured the pain of losing my mother suddenly in my early 20s, navigated difficult family dynamics, experienced severe burnout, and have come out the other side of menopause. These experiences, while tough, shaped who I am today and fuelled my passion for self-care.
In moments of chaos, I turned to self-care not as a luxury but as a lifeline. Taking time to nurture myself made me feel more grounded and empowered, and I wanted to create something that would allow other women to experience the same transformation. That’s where Embodyme was born. I envisioned a brand that offered more than just products by creating a multi-sensorial experience that nurtures both the body and mind. Our clean and sustainable products harness the power of natural fragrance and nutrient-dense botanical oils to nourish the skin and uplift the spirit, helping women reconnect with their inner selves.
Understanding Women’s Wellness: The Embodyme Survey
As I built Embodyme, I knew it was crucial to understand where women stand with their wellbeing. That’s why I commissioned a survey to explore how New Zealand women approach self-care in today’s demanding world. The findings were eye-opening and validated my deep passion for helping women prioritise their wellness.
We discovered that 85% of women postpone or neglect their self-care, and when they do prioritise themselves, 71% feel guilty about it, even though 83% recognise its importance. New Zealand women are only spending an average of 16 minutes a day on self-care, and despite gains in workplace equality, significant gender disparities remain at home, with women shouldering much more childcare and household responsibilities. This double workload is taking a toll on their wellbeing, and 1 in 3 women are chronically sleep-deprived, a condition with far-reaching effects.
These insights reaffirmed Embodyme’s purpose: to help women integrate self-care into their routines in a way that is sustainable and approachable. It’s not about grand gestures or time-consuming routines but small, meaningful rituals that nurture both body and mind. Many women feel disconnected from themselves and unsure where to start, which highlights the need for accessible tools and support to make self-care feel natural and attainable, without the pressure of perfection or guilt.
Passion for Women’s Wellness
My passion for helping women on their wellness journeys comes from a deeply personal place. I’ve experienced the struggle of feeling disconnected from myself, overwhelmed by life’s demands, and depleted from constantly putting others’ needs first. But I’ve also experienced the transformative power of self-care, how taking even a few moments each day to nurture myself has changed how I feel, how I show up in the world, and how I approach my responsibilities.
I created Embodyme because I believe every woman deserves to embody her best—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Daily rituals, whether it’s applying a luxurious body oil after a shower, taking a mindful moment to breathe deeply, or savoring a cup of tea in quiet reflection, can profoundly impact our wellbeing and how we move through life. These small acts of self-care may seem simple, but their power is immense. Through Embodyme, I want to help women fall in love with taking care of themselves. I want to break down the barriers that make self-care feel unattainable or indulgent, and instead, make it something that feels easy and essential. Our products are designed to seamlessly fit into your daily routine, so you can experience the benefits of self-care without feeling overwhelmed by yet another task on your to-do list.
Moving Forward Together
As I look to the future, my vision for Embodyme continues to evolve. We’re more than a beauty brand; we’re a community of women supporting one another on our wellness journeys. The survey we commissioned has provided invaluable insights into the challenges women face when it comes to self-care, and we’re committed to using that knowledge to better serve our customers. We want to be a brand that offers more than just products; we aim to provide resources, support, and inspiration to help women prioritise their wellbeing. Ultimately, my goal with Embodyme is to create a positive shift that empowers women to embrace self-care as an essential part of their lives. I believe that when we take care of ourselves, we’re better able to care for others and contribute meaningfully to the world around us. I’m passionate about helping women feel good, inside and out, because I deeply believe that where there is wellness, beauty naturally follows.
Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. Let’s make it a priority, together.
