We specialise in contemporary tailoring that is elegant, exceptionally comfortable and properly constructed using traditional artisanal methods. We create individual pieces expressly for you, according to your personal requirements and preferences.
We have been dressing grooms, groomsmen and wedding guests since 1999, and whether it’s the formality of a tuxedo and black tie or the relaxed elegance of a beach ceremony, we have the knowledge and the expertise to guide you through the process.
They say that you can tell a lot about a man by the shoes he wears, and it’s something we believe in getting right. Our custom-made footwear programme offers the opportunity to have your ideal pair of shoes made, giving you the chance to select your style, leather and finish.
I’m Murray Crane and I established Crane Brothers in 1999.
It was always a dream of mine to have a shop in central Auckland, New Zealand, where my family history dates back to the 19th Century. I grew up on the South Island in a small town. I was the outsider with a mohawk and black clothing in a neighbourhood of farm kids. I wore suits to school and constantly bugged my mother to cut my pants and sew things onto my clothing.
At the age of 17, I made my way abroad, only to return to New Zealand with fresh ideas that I longed to see here. I created the opportunity and established Crane Brothers, representing the pinnacle of artisanal menswear.
I pride myself on our work and service of our team, some of whom have been with me from the very beginning. We make our tailoring in Italy, as well as working with the finest specialist global artisans, and finish our work by hand at our Auckland workroom.
