NIVEA SUN products care for your skin in more ways than one, combining broad spectrum sun protection with moisturising care. Highly effective UVA and UVB filters shield your skin from sun damage, which is vitally important for Kiwis spending time in the harsh New Zealand sun.
Additionally, all NIVEA SUN products are free from banned UV filters oxybenzone and octinoxate, making them fully compliant with the Hawaii Reef Bill. Choosing a sunscreen that is compliant with the Hawaii Reef Bill significantly reduces the risk of these harmful chemicals entering the ocean.
– Many New Zealanders do not apply enough sunscreen – you need much more than you think.
– Adults need about 7 teaspoons of sunscreen from head to toe. Apply one teaspoon of sunscreen per body part: 1-teaspoon for the face, ears and neck, and 1-teaspoon for each arm and leg (including the hands and feet), 1-teaspoon for the front of the body and 1-teaspoon for the back of the body. For children, it is widely recommended that half this amount is used for full body protection – 3.5 teaspoons.
– Make sure you apply your sunscreen 20 minutes before going into the sun. When you apply sunscreen, it leaves a thin layer of UV filters on your body. It doesn’t form immediately, as much as we’d like it to. It takes about 20 minutes for the protection layer to form evenly.
– Avoid the hottest part of the day by seeking shade between 10am and 2pm.
