Bronze beauty buys

A few of our current favourite bronzers. Image writer’s own.

We know bronzer is traditionally seen as a Summer beauty product but we’re of the belief that not all beauty rules should be followed. A touch of bronze needn’t leave things looking Oompa Loompa orange. Instead it can add a subtle glow, some sculpting and a hint of radiance. These options are all available to suit a range of skin tones, something not always guaranteed with beauty brands tending to favour the paler side of the shade spectrums. We think these five really hit the mark and are all fantastic options.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder, $35
An oldie but a goodie. We are a bit late to the party here but this is lovely. It’s matte but adds a subtle hint of colour to the skin. We recommend going up a shade as this powder does pull lighter.

Mecca Max Sunlit Skin Bronzing Powder, $24
We’re loving Mecca Maxima’s newest offering and this bronzer ticks all the boxes. Terracotta rather than orange, subtle shimmer rather than crazy disco ball sparkle and complementary to a range of skin tones. The prize point is fantastic for this brand and we love the fun packaging and design as well. This will be a staple in the Spring and Summer months.

Maybelline Face Studio Master Bronze Palette, $24.99
For those who want something with a touch more shimmer and a range of tones, this is for you. If you want to use these for warming up the complexion, we recommend a light hand. Alternatively you could use something like a duo fibre brush or a fan brush for the subtlest dusting of powder. These shades also work lovely as bronze eye shadows too.

Revlon Sculpt and Highlight Contour Kit, $30.90
Available in two colour variants, this Revlon palette is a powder must-have. It takes care of your sculpting, bronzing, highlighting and setting needs. These powders are on the pigmented side and brushes do tend to pick up a lot of product but that’s not a bad thing. We recommend a light hand and tapping away the excess product first. Less is always more with this trend.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer, $79
One of our all-time favourite powders and the most luxe. A little certainly goes a long way and this product lasts a long time so you do get your money’s worth. We recommend the shade Luminous Bronze Light for paler skin tones, Head to the Mecca Cosmetica or Mecca Maxima counters to find the colour that suits you.
