Benny Castles, designer and director at WORLD. Image supplied.

Benny Castles has carved out a stellar career over the past 18 years at high fashion label WORLD. The talented designer started out not too sure what he wanted to do but knowing that WORLD was the place for him and he was taken under the wing of owners Denise L’Estrange Corbet and Francis Hooper. Castles has developed into an exceptional designer and is now a director of the business as well as having an important role in creating the brand’s eye-catching garments that are full of attitude.

He was interviewed live on stage at an iD Dunedin Fashion Week event a couple of weeks ago by Sonia Sly from Radio New Zealand’s popular My Heels Are Killing Me podcast before the controversy broke recently around L’Estrange Corbet and WORLD in the media. Find out Castles’ thoughts on the ever-changing world of designer fashion, what it’s like to do business in New Zealand and how he created WORLD’s successful menswear range below.
