Beautiful footwear from the Beau Coops x Romance Was Born collaboration.
Beau Coops specialise in making beautiful shoes, since 2009 their gorgeous take on footwear has resulted in some exceptional collaborations too, like this recent one with Romance Was Born. The winsome shoes were influenced by the opulent gilded ceilings of the late 1800’s in the Royal Palais in Paris and are so colourful and wonderfully detailed. They featured as part of Romance Was Born’s Liberace-inspired show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia last year and are now finally available for sale.
Alongside footwear collaborations with the likes of Karen Walker, Sass & Bide, BASSIKE, Leona Edminston, this was the second collaboration between Beau Coops and Romance Was Born. “For me working with Anna Plunkett & Luke Sales (Romance Was Born’s designers) is akin to taking a sip from Alice in Wonderland’s cup, and falling down the rabbit hole,” says founder and creative director of Beau Coops, Carrie Cooper. “While still staying true to the Beau Coops aesthetic, the foundations have been beautifully and psychedelically dressed up in the Romance Was Born world. Beau Coops in Romance Land.”
The 13 piece range comprises of theatrical thigh high boots with exaggerated ruffle side paneling, slippers with soft fur lining and embellished metal tips, as well as ankle boots and mules with a metallic or suede flared heel. They perfectly complement the plethora of prints from Romance Was Born’s ‘Whispering Angel’ collection. The gorgeous brocade in rich gold and imperial blue was a nod to the fanciful creations of Romance Was Born, while hues of blush, mint and black referenced a more Beau Coops palette.
Beau Coops is produced and manufactured in Italy by cobbler artisan Rocco Mascitelli from Nick Mascitelli Imports and designed by London based, New Zealand born Carrie Cooper. The Beau Coops x Romance Was Born collaboration is available in New Zealand exclusively from Runway Shoes.
