Annika Deboer has just released her new collection for Autumn/Winter 2018 and it’s a beautiful take on 18th century style. The winsome range has a focus on sleeves with puffed sleeves and billowing bishop sleeves featuring on elegant dresses, tops and shirts.
The key pieces of this range are the Grace dress and top, Lauren dress and Margot silk shirt which all feature the gorgeous sleeves and classical necklines. Designer Annika Deboer has done a wonderful job of taking vintage-inspired looks and making them modern and easy to wear which were important considerations for the collection.
“Looking at the 18th century also had a large influence on the cut of the Grace dress and top as they are designed to be fitted but still comfortable and not skin tight so dart position was important,” adds Annika. “I wanted to show off the figure without making it difficult to sit down or eat a great meal.”
“The Pauline two piece is a personal favourite as well as the Lauren dress and Grace top. The two piece was just something I really wanted for my wardrobe and after wearing a test sample out and about and getting great response I decided to add it as a piece for the collection. Who doesn’t love getting up in the morning and throwing something on that doesn’t require to much thought but still looks amazing!”
For this collection the designer also pushed forward with her brand’s philosophy of Less is More 5,6-7,3-10 which means that she utilised 5 fabrics (including dead stock fabrics) for the range. There are also 6-7 pieces in each collection which exemplifies her less is more approach. Each garment is made to order with 3 – 10 working days for each piece to be created and shipped so that the brand reduces waste and doesn’t overproduce. The only items that are pre-made are the Classics range of knit tops which are essential winter pieces.
