The limited edition release is the first ever official All Blacks licensed sneaker by adidas Originals, and it shines a Gotham-esque light on four of the All Blacks' most powerful, quick and agile players, and has dubbed them the ‘all heroes'.
The squadron of all heroes' characters have been brought to life by New Zealand illustrator, Elliot F. Stewart.
Stewart spent time getting to know the abilities, desires and passion for rugby with each of the four players, creating world-class super hero personas in painstaking detail for each athlete.
Bringing the all heroes to life can be seen in a special short film, directed by Frank Liew and shot by Sean Wallace of Eyeball Moving Image.
Stewart wanted the four all heroes to possess the most dynamic attributes, akin to the world’s most revered super heroes, using speed, strength and agility to dominate their terrified opponents.
The 'all heroes' are:
Sonny Bill Williams a.k.a 'SB-DUB' – the all-rounder, with super-fast fireball offloads and spiked shoulder armour for shoulder barges.
Dan Carter a.k.a 'DC' – he's half man, half machine (a secret government development), with powerful legs for dodging opponents and kicking goals from anywhere on the park.
Jonah Lomu a.k.a 'JUSTICE' – this super hero's power is unknown. When he gets hit, his sizeand strength multiplies.You don't want to mess with him!
Liam Messam a.k.a 'SUPER NATIVE' – blessed with the power of super-speed, this warrior emits a koru-shaped force field from his gigantic arms.
The 100 pairs of black and white Campus 80's sneakers will be released at Qubic Store, 160 Broadway, Newmarket at 10am on Friday 23rd September, 2011 with a special in-store appearance by Liam Messam.
The adidas Originals all heroes Campus 80's sneaker will be released online at www.qubicstore.com at 12:01PM on Friday 23rd September so the global sneaker-obsessed community and die-hard All Blacks fans the world over have the chance to snap up a pair of these rare and powerful shoes.
Of the 100 pairs to be released, 15 super-limited pairs will be packaged in NZ-made, collector’s edition metal boxes and will retail for NZD$280 (only available to buy in-store, not online).
The first 15 customers into Qubic Store on Friday 23rd will have the chance to buy these uniquely packaged items.
The 85 remaining pairs will have an RRP of NZD$220.
Every pair of the ‘all heroes' Campus 80's sneakers comes with a double-pack of playing cards, with special limited run gold foil cards slipped into random packs.
The playing cards will also be given away with every adidas purchase in Qubic Store throughout September and October 2011, or until stocks last.
