A precious “hand up”

New Zealand Mint Jewellery and Boh Runga are bringing fashion and charity together this September to support a worthy cause.

From September 01, Boh Runga’s symbolic and popular Lotus Pendant is available in Sterling Silver for the first time.

New Zealand Mint Jewellery and Boh Runga have pledged a $15 contribution to the World Vision Micro cause from the sale of each of the new Lotus Pendants until the end of 2013.

The aim is to give a much needed ‘hand up’ to small business entrepreneurs supported by World Vision Micro.

Boh Runga travelled to Tanzania in June 2013 to climb Mt Kilimanjaro with a team put together by World Vision. There she witnessed first-hand the difference that could be made in the lives of hardworking entrepreneurs when they were granted access to a small business loan.

World Vision CEO Chris Clarke says Micro is a hand-up not a hand-out.

“I think that’s something that appeals to both Kiwis and the entrepreneurs receiving loans. People who apply for Micro loans are willing to put the hard yards in. They want to be self-sufficient – they don’t want to depend on aid.

“World Vision is so grateful for both NZ Mint’s and Boh’s support. In Boh’s case, she’s already climbed a mountain for us, so we’re humbled by her continuing generosity,” Mr Clarke says.

With its delicate design, the beautiful and highly coveted Lotus Pendant is the perfect reminder that something so small can make a big difference.

The Sterling Silver Lotus Pendant is available from New Zealand Mint Jewellery stockists nationwide and online at www.nzmintjewellery.com RRP $139.00.
