Earlier this month I shot the Karen Walker 'Hi There' lookbook and pieces from their winter 2011 collection for their online store. There are so many cute 'Hi There' pieces and theyre all at such a reasonable price point. The black and white spotty blouse and the little floral jumpsuit are my picks. Id be surprised if those pieces didnt fly out the door.
A week later I shot Karens Southern Hemisphere Summer 11/12 collection. Expect lots of bright colours, florals, stripes, patterns and some black vinyl, all styled with little white socks and shoes. The Beau Coops for Karen Walker are amazing too, and super comfy. At the shoot I wore some of the styles from her new Polarised sunglass collection. The big round ones with the gold frames are a must-have . As soon as I put them on I was completely sold. Perfection!
Walking in the Stolen Girlfriends Club Spring 11 show at the New World supermarket on College Hill was definitely a highlight. Not what youd expect to witness if you were just heading out to pick up some bread and milk. It was a cool experiment though and definitely original so kudos to them for trying something different, and succeeding. The online coverage was amazing too, even Grazia UK picked up on the story! The standout pieces from the collection are the coral drape back blazer and the coral ruffle dress. Im quite obsessed I ordered them both.
The New Zealand Fashion Festival was lots of fun too. I walked in all the on-site collection shows Fashion Quarterly, Viva, Cleo and Remix. I also did the off-site Stolen Girlfriends Club show at Britomart Country Club on the Wednesday night. My favourite outfits of the week were definitely Zambesi, Workshop Denim and SGC. It certainly made me want to go shopping.
On Friday I walked in the Department Store show featuring the in-store collections from Karen Walker, Topshop and Black Box. The clothes were amazing of course and Zara s styling was all very effortless and cool. Im sure a lot of people who watched the show would have been back the next day to pick up their favourite things.
Just for something a bit different, I got to organise and run a casting for Levi's. Theyre one of Beat's clients and they have a media day coming up so I got set the task of picking the models. It was pretty cool being on the other side of the casting process for once. I forgot how nerve-racking it can all be for the new faces, so I made sure to be super nice.
Next up for me is shooting the Ruby SS11/12 campaign this week. The clothes are to die for! There are SO MANY beautiful pieces in the prettiest colours and fabrics. Im such a Ruby fan so doing anything for them is a dream job. I cant wait!
