Les Mills has invested more than $9 million into this world-class facility so Dunedinites can get a jump on their New Year’s fitness resolutions
An architectural upgrade from its original location in Dowling Street, where Dunedin locals have been Body Balancing since 1984, Les Mills last week opened its new, state-of-the-art Dunedin club in Meridian Mall.
The new space is a fitspo dream with dedicated zones for group workouts, cardio machines, free weights, Olympic lifting (including a multi-bay squat rig and lifting platforms), functional training and stretching. Not to mention the club’s very selfie-friendly changing rooms and contrast therapy zones, which consist of cold plunge showers and saunas.
“Whether you’re looking for an athletic workout, a full gym floor offering, an immersive cycle ride or to find your zen in a mind-body class, this new gym has you covered,” says Brett Sutton, Les Mills New Zealand CEO.
Now for the not-too-hard sell: Keen to offer the local community a head start at forming healthy habits ahead of summer, Les Mills is offering free memberships to all of Dunedin’s 128,000 residents for the entire month of November. The free membership includes Les Mills’ innovative range of fitness classes and state-of-the-art gym floor facility.
The initiative follows scientific research which overwhelmingly indicates that exercise benefits our mental health. Says Sutton: “Ninety-two percent of regular exercisers experience an exercise-induced boost, with feelings of accomplishment, energy and enjoyment. Les Mills Dunedin wants everyone to experience these benefits.”
Set to be Aotearoa’s most premium Les Mills offering, Sutton says the move to Meridian Mall isn’t just about the location, it encompasses a shift toward a cutting-edge fitness facility that prioritises well-being and community engagement.
“We are thrilled to bring some of the most innovative workouts and experiences to the region with the reimagined club. We have been working hard to ensure the new offering is a true reflection of our Live Forward philosophy and we are buzzing to have opened the doors at last.”
