A vintage sports-inspired eyewear collection to get your eyeballs in shape
Unveiled this week and readily available in New Zealand, NYC-based heritage eyewear brand Moscot is the latest label to throw it back to ’70s sports culture, adding a nostalgic, five-piece collection of reimagined aviators to its extensive repertoire.
Inspired by “the inimitable fashion of the characters of Manhattan’s Lower East Side”, chief design officer Zack Moscot says the five new frames were designed “to take up as much space as the legends who rock them.”
I think we can all agree that optics are important. And sure, everyone wants to emulate a Lower East Side sports star, “walking down Orchard Street in August 1973, a boombox on your shoulder and shades covering your eyes” (yes, this visual comes straight from the press materials and what a fabulous visual it is).
However, we feel that Moscot wouldn’t mind us spitballing some localised scenarios that will help Aotearoa’s eyewear enthusiasts wrap their imaginations around the new collection.
And yes, we’ve kept to a sports theme. If screen time is a sport.
