Jewellery designer Cathy Pope releases her stunning 5th Symphony collection today which celebrates five years of her eponymous brand. The collection has been many months in development and production with 5th Symphony her sole collection for 2018 and imbued with significance from her five years in business. Pope has successfully created and defined her beloved jewellery brand which has been worn and adored by many well-known New Zealand women. Her bold design style and clever use of eye-catching gemstones sets her pieces apart and have helped build a solid reputation for her jewellery business.
“After five years, I had to stop and question my core values as a designer and manufacturer,” says Cathy Pope. “I’m inspired to design timeless jewellery that my customers will treasure and pass down through generations. I have never been interested in fast fashion and cheap throw away jewellery, but at times over the past five years, I found myself getting caught up in the hype and the speed of the fashion world and I had to slow it down. I’ve spent the past year considering my lifestyle, customers and the strongest design elements over the five years and why they were so successful. As a result, I’ve created my biggest and I believe my best collection yet.”
Pope’s many fans will be delighted with 5th Symphony which is a thoughtful and reimagined selection of her most successful designs from the past five years. The always popular hoop earrings have been reinvented in matte silver, yellow and rose gold in bold, modern shapes. Pope’s signature chunky choker has been stripped back to become an elegant industrial style stand-alone chain that can be looped or layered. Each ring is serious in size and designed to be noticed with winsome gemstones in settings of matte silver, yellow and rose gold.
“I’ve carefully chosen gemstones that I know my customers love such as trusty black onyx as well as some exotic patterns in blue lace agate and earthy moss agate,” adds Pope. “I’m excited by the natural variations of nature in the lace and moss agate, and have been mesmerized by their beauty for such a long time so it’s wonderful to bring them to life in Fifth Symphony. After numerous requests, I’ve also introduced precious red garnets and green emeralds into a modern and subtle stud.”
Each beautiful piece of Cathy Pope jewellery is handcrafted and as is the designer’s signature ‘the perfection of imperfection has been carved into the nuances of angles and asymmetry of the metals as well as the gemstones’. She manufactures each limited edition piece ethically with an emphasis on integrity and originality which has gained her brand a strong following.
