3 Wise Men recently released an exciting collaboration with UBCO, New Zealand’s homegrown electric utility bike. Together they have created a limited edition co-branded urban bike and capsule collection with the clothing, accessories and bike available in selected 3 Wise Men stores and online now.
The UBCO 2×2 was created as an electric farm bike in 2014 and founded on the idea of a Utility Electric Vehicle (UEV) that would transform the way people ride, work and play. It is now sold globally and has won a number of design awards with its clever yet rugged all-weather fitout able to cope with all kinds of terrain.
A perfect accompaniment to the bike, the 3WM capsule collection is great for wearing while riding but is also suitable for any day that requires smart casual attire that’s practical yet fashionable. The collaboration brings together the best of both brands and will no doubt be very appealing to each brand’s fans too.
“We love the UBCO 2×2’s Kiwi essence and its heritage. In many ways it is like the 3 Wise Men brand itself, being born of the desire to provide honest, reliable apparel, that can keep a man looking stylish and on his game throughout the business day,” says 3 Wise Men founder (and one the three), Richard Miles. “The collab allowed us not only to work with UBCO to add our vision to the bike, but also to extend our 3 Wise Men brand out of the office and into the urban jungle, with four great items of clothing and leather accessories that any man would be proud to own. Our mantra is that we ‘only work with good buggers’ and this is a critical part of the 3 Wise Men way. The team at UBCO definitely met our ‘good buggers’ test and we’re proud to partner with them.”
Those sentiments are shared by UBCO CEO Timothy Allan who is so excited with the limited edition UBCO 3W bike that he is considering extending production beyond the five units made for the test run. His enthusiasm for the bike has also seen him become the face of the collaboration and Allan can be seen modelling the collection and the bike in an upcoming campaign.
“The UBCO team is incredibly excited by what 3 Wise Men has done with the capsule range and the design team have been able to create a bike that matches the slick urban style of their collection,” says Timothy Allan. “Our team have been able to retain the essential values of the bike; utility,reliability and sustainability, but blend it with an effortless urban style that is instantly recognisable and desirable. We can see real interest internationally for both the bike and the apparel.”
The UBCO x 3 Wise Men clothing and accessories range has been designed in wearable hues of green, grey, blue, navy, black, brown and khaki. It includes hard-wearing shirts in poplin that feature elbow patches and a button down collar, and are available in eight colours. There’s also a waxed cotton quilted jacket that’s showerproof and has contrasting camo lining.
The design team have added lots of clever features like the thumbholes to keep everything where it should be on the Merino wool/Coolmax blend jersey. The blend of 60% wool and 40% Coolmax construction is also perfect for body temperature regulation. Denim fans will love the superbly cut raw selvedge jeans that have a specially designed logo stitching on the rear and have 3% elastane for easy bike riding.
The clothing is accompanied by all the right accessories including a canvas and leather satchel that has an in-built suitcase handle sleeve which also handily slots neatly onto the rear pannier rack on the bike. UBCO x 3 Wise Men leather key rings and leather and canvas bi-fold wallets round out the range.
