To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Nike Free, the brand will soon be launching the new season Nike Free 3.0 and 4.0 Flyknit styles.
Designed to enable an athlete’s natural stride, the original 2004 Nike 5.0, not only built on Nike’s design legacy but also introduced a new understanding of biomechanics into performance footwear. There have been many iterations since the first model launched in 2004.
In 2014, with a decade of discovery and adaption, three major developments highlight the evolution of the ‘Free’, pushing the boundaries of footwear design even further.
Hexagon flex grooves for stability and support when feet strike the ground, Anatomical Shape for natural movement and Nike Flyknit technology which provides a supportive, contured fit that compliments the flexibility of the Nike Free platform.
Considered a ‘barefoot running’ shoe, the Nike Frees are flexible and promote strengthening of the feet and lower body to prevent injuries.
But the shoe’s popularity hasn’t always been because of its technical features. The slim profile and limited-edition nature of some of the Nike Free releases has definitely appealed to an audience beyond the tight-knit sneaker community. In fact the Nike Free has found its way into the closets of collectors, broaching a street- style culture.
The Nike Free 3.0 and 4.0 Flyknit will be available from April 2014
